Ep 8: Can Chiropractors Help With Heart Health?

Diet and exercise are the most common ways that we’re told to treat heart health, but did you know that a chiropractor can also help improve the strength of your most important organ? February is American Hearth Month and we should all use this time to give extra attention to our cardiovascular health. The most common ways we do this is through diet and exercise – and sometimes medication – but you might not know that a chiropractor can also provide great benefits for heart health.

On this episode of the podcast, Drs. Rachel and Tri Myers will tell you about the role they play when it comes to the heart. The body relies on all systems to be working in conjunction to thrive and a chiropractor can help you in a few key areas.

The first thing we’ll highlight is the Atlas bone. It’s such an important part of the body and all of our techniques are going to address the Atlas bone. To understand how it all works, we’ll talk about how the blood flows and why you need to know about vasodilation.

Then there’s the medulla oblogonta. It’s a funny name and one that you might remember from an Adam Sandler comedy, but it also affects your heart. Any pressure on the medulla oblogonta will cause changes to the two key nerves in your body and that makes blood pressure go up.

Along with those adjustments, you should also be paying attention to your visceral fat. When we talk about owning your health, this is a place you should start. To combat this fat, you should be training your heart rate to go up and come back down in quick spurts. We’ll discuss why that’s critical, but remember that your heart is just another muscle that needs training.

The last thing we’ll touch on today are supplements. Out of all the Omegas, your focus should be on Omega-3 and not the 6s and 9s as much.

All of these things play a part in improving your heart health and we hope you take this month to own it. If you’d like to learn more about our process, please reach out and we’ll be happy to tell you more.

Ep 12: The Relationship Between Chiropractic Care and Mental Health

Mental health and physical health are correlated in so many ways and chiropractic care can play a role in improving both mind and body. In our effort to support the Wounded Warrior Project, we want to highlight the adjustments we provide patients that also serve to improve their mental health.

Ep 11: Sit Up Straight! Tips to Improving Your Posture

Ever since we were young children, our parents and teachers always told us to sit up straight. Trying to achieve and maintain good posture is something we struggle with throughout our lives, and the health issues it causes are becoming more apparent at younger and younger ages. Rachel and Tri will share tips for improving posture and discuss the ways in which it can improve your health.
